Amersham Mayor says Workaid is amazing!

Amersham Town Mayor Howard Maitland-Jones visited our workshop on January 19 and said he was 'amazed' by our operation and the dedication of our volunteers.

After his tour of our 5,000 sq ft industrial unit in White Lion Road, he said: "It's absolutely wonderful. Workaid is well known locally but I had no idea it was so big or had so many volunteers. What an amazing organisation of people giving their time to help others."

Visit picture Councillor Maitland-Jones has lived in Amersham for 30 years and had donated tools to us many years ago when Workaid was based in a scout hut behind Amersham Free Church. But in the ten years since we moved to our current premises, generously provided by health science company GE Healthcare,

Workaid has grown tremendously and our original team of a dozen volunteers has now grown to over 170. Last year, Amersham Town Council helped fund the costs of our hugely successful 20th anniversary celebrations, held at Amersham Free Church in April, which raised almost £7,000.
