After a tour of the workshop with Workaid Chairman, Sylvia Parrott, and Administrator, Bill Duperouzel, H.E.Mrs Maajar thanked the volunteers and offered words of encouragement and inspiration about the impact their work has on the lives of those living in poverty. H.E.Mrs Maajar told us:
"It has been my greatest pleasure to be here today; the greatest surprise and inspiration has been that people are here - volunteering and giving their time.
If you give a human being a working tool, you have liberated them from poverty. It is not like giving someone food; if you give a man food, you take away their dignity. If you give a man a tool, you give them dignity, personality and pride."
H.E.Mrs Maajar also very generously presented each of the women with a Kanga; a beautifully printed cotton cloth from Tanzania inscribed with a message.

Bill explained to the visitors that Workaid are looking to extend their work in Tanzania by appointing an oversees partner in the country to co-ordinate and assess projects. In April 2008, we supported 17 projects in Tanzania with a large consignment of refurbished tools and equipment on board the 20 ft container 'Zebedee'. In 2011 we aim to send out another container to support more projects.
