Workaid Container 'SAMUEL'
| Workaid container 'Samuel', destined for NDOLA, Zambia, left our container storage site in Little Chalfont on Friday, 11th April 2008. This is the first Workaid 20' container to be sent to Africa in 2008. | |
| Container 'SAMUEL' is carrying a large quantity of second-hand tools and
equipment, which have been lovingly refurbished by our many volunteers at
our workshop in Amersham. On board are 382 kits or items, packed into 666
boxes, whose combined weight is 9,421 Kg!! In all, 24 worthwhile self-help
vocational projects will be the beneficiaries thus enabling a further 1,200
people out of poverty..

The vessel carrying 'SAMUEL', the 'MSC SAFMARINE NOKWANDA', is due to depart from TILBURY docks, in Essex, on Tuesday, 15th April 2008. Travelling via the ports of Durban, in South Africa and Biera, in Mozambique 'SAMUEL' will then continue its journey overland to Workaid's partner The Community Institute for Youth Development, in Ndola, Zambia, and into the safe hands of acting Director Brian Mwali. Brian is handling Workaid matters following the sudden death recently of the Revd. Latima Bupe. It is likely to be sometime in September before the container 'SAMUEL' actually arrives in Ndola as there are often delays en route. |
