Workaid welcomes new Chairman and Chief Executive

Peter Harper KSG, FCA, was elected Chairman of Workaid at the charity's AGM on 27th July 2010 and Bill Duperouzel was appointed Chief Executive.
Peter, who was until recently Financial Director, has been a trustee of the charity for 20 years. He has a great depth of commercial and fundraising experience.

Australian-born Bill, a CPA accountant, takes over as Chief Executive having worked tirelessly and conscientiously as Workaid's Administrator for 4½ years.
In the new role he has overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of Workaid, assisted by the other members of the Workaid Management Team [Richard Boughton; Sue Gotley; Claire Popple and Chrissie Russell Flint].

Peter takes over as Chairman from Sylvia Parrott MBE who has stepped down after 9 years in the role of Chairman.
However Sylvia will remain involved with the charity as a trustee and as a key member of the Project Review Group, working closely with projects in East Africa.
Eighty Workaid volunteers attended a lunch for Sylvia, funded by an anonymous donor, as a way of celebrating her achievements and thanking her for leading the charity through significant growth and development over recent years:
As a founding member of the charity (twenty five years ago) and Workaid Chairman for nine years, Sylvia has steered the charity through significant growth and development. Her passion has been working tirelessly for those living in extreme poverty in Africa and indeed she was honoured with an MBE for her services to East Africa in the 2006 New Year's Honours List. On behalf of all Workaid volunteers, staff, supporters and beneficiaries, I would like to extend our thanks to Sylvia for her pivotal role in establishing Workaid as the successful and thriving organisation it is today. She will be a hard act to follow!"     Peter Harper KSG, FCA
