CONTAINER 'NAOMI' LEAVES FOR KENYA
| Workaid container 'NAOMI', destined for KENYA, left our container storage site in Little Chalfont on Friday 13th June 2008. This is the 3rd Workaid container to be sent to Africa in 2008. | |
| Container 'NAOMI' is carrying a large quantity of second-hand tools and equipment, which have been lovingly refurbished by our many volunteers at our workshop in Amersham. On board are 464 items or kits, packed into 678 boxes, whose combined weight is 9.3 tons!! In all, 23 worthwhile self-help projects and vocational training projects will be the beneficiaries thus helping 1,150 disadvantaged people to escape the cycle of poverty.
![]() From this port container 'NAOMI' will travel overland, via Nairobi, for its onward journey to Workaid's partner, The Catholic Diocese of Kisii in western Kenya, into the safe hands of our partner, Christopher Otsinde. It is likely to be sometime in August 2008 before the container actually arrives in Kisii for there are often delays en route from Mombasa. |
![]() The vessel carrying 'NAOMI', the 'GRETE MAERSK', departed from Felixstowe docks, in Essex, on Sunday 15th June and is expected to arrive at the port of Mombasa, Kenya on the 4th July 2008.
