| Workaid container 'MICAH', destined for Zambia, left our container storage site in Little Chalfont on Friday, 19th June 2009. This is the third 20' container to be sent to Africa in 2009. This is the last container to be sent from this storage site - in future containers destined for Africa will leave from Workaid's new premises at the Old Boot Factory in Chesham.

Container 'MICAH' is carrying a large quantity of second-hand tools and equipment, which have been lovingly refurbished by our dedicated and loyal volunteers at our new workshop in Chesham. On board are 407 kits, packed into 713 boxes, whose combined weight is 9.4 tons!! In all, 20 worthwhile vocational training projects and self-help projects will be the beneficiaries thus helping 1000 disadvantaged people to escape the cycle of poverty. |
| The vessel carrying 'MICAH, the 'MSC MICHAELA' leaves Felixstowe docks on Wednesday 24th June and is expected to arrive at the port of Dar es Salaam on the 28th July. From Dar es Salaam the container will travel overland to Workaid's partner, the Community Institute for Youth Development, into the safe hands of our Workaid partners, Brian Mwila and George Songwe. It is likely to be sometime later in the year before the container actually arrives in Ndola for there are often long delays en route. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
