Workaid Container 'MAGDALENE'
| Workaid container 'MAGDALENE', destined for Uganda, left our container storage site in Little Chalfont on Friday 14th December. This is the 6th Workaid container to be sent to Africa in 2007. | |
| Container 'MAGDALENE' is carrying a large quantity of second-hand tools and equipment, which have been lovingly refurbished by our many volunteers at our workshop in Amersham. On board are 482 items or kits, packed into 667 boxes, whose combined weight is 10 tons!! In all, 24 worthwhile self-help projects and vocational training projects will be the beneficiaries thus helping 1,200 disadvantaged people to escape the cycle of poverty.
![]() From this port container ' MAGDALENE' will travel overland for its onward journey to Workaid's partner, Interservice, into the safe hands of Fr Tony Rweza and Fr Pontian Wasswa. It is likely to be sometime in March 2008 before the container actually arrives in Kampala as there are often delays en route from Mombasa. |
![]() The depature was delayed slightly and the vessel carrying 'MAGDALENE' will now be the 'CLEMENTINE MAERSK' , departing from Felixstowe docks, in Essex, on Monday 31st December and expected to arrive at the port of Mombasa, Kenya at the end of January 2008.
