| Container 'CEPHAS' is carrying a large quantity of second-hand tools and equipment, which have been lovingly refurbished by our many volunteers at our workshop in Amersham. On board are 504 items or kits, packed into 687 boxes, whose combined weight is 9.9 tons!! In all, 26 worthwhile self-help projects and vocational training projects will be the beneficiaries thus helping 1,300 disadvantaged people to escape the cycle of poverty. The vessel carrying 'CEPHAS', the 'GERTRUD MAERSK', left Felixstowe docks, in Essex, on Thursday 14th August and is expected to arrive at the port of Mombasa, Kenya on the 24th September. From this port container 'CEPHAS' will travel overland for its onward journey to Workaid's partner, Interservice, into the safe hands of Fr Tony Rweza and Fr Pontian Wasswa. It is likely to be sometime in November 2008 before the container actually arrives in Kampala as there are often delays en route from Mombasa. |
