On Friday 12th August eleven staff from GlaxoSmithKline in Brentford spent the day volunteering at Workaid. It was organised by Simon, who works at GSK and volunteers at Workaid with his son Matthew on Saturday mornings, and Claire from Workaid's Management Team.

The new recruits toured the premises and heard about Workaid before
choosing from a selection of jobs arranged by Claire and Richard,
Workaid's Operation Manager.
Workaid volunteers Alan and Bryan helped direct the teams. Everyone
worked incredibly hard during the day painting the barn floor, the
entire workshop ceiling to brighten up the whole area, cleaning filthy
windows, breaking a concrete block in the old horticultural workshop,
moving workbenches, heavy machinery and other items in the warehouse to
create more space, as well as doing a great job sorting many spanners
and screwdrivers.

It was a chance for the GSK staff to see each other away from their usual work environment and to make a real contribution to Workaid's work.

GSK's George commented "Many thanks to the folks at Workaid for making
us feel so welcome. All of us enjoyed the experience and learning more
about Workaid's contribution. We were really impressed."
